ANTI-PIRACY GUARDS.

The Government decided to discontinue the

provision of free Military Anti-Piracy Guards but

allowed the shipping companies to have military

guards on the following conditions:-

1. The Military Guards should be paid for. 2. The companies should pay for an

organisation of Indian Anti-Piracy Guards.

The following companies which call at

Singapore agreed to these terms:

British India Steam Navigation Company. China Navigation Company.

Indo-China Steam Navigation Company.

It is of interest that in spite of the

fact that companies now pay for the services of

British guards, their requests for these guards have

in no way diminished in fact the reverse is the
