ANTI-PIRACY GUARDS.
The Government decided to discontinue the
provision of free Military Anti-Piracy Guards but
allowed the shipping companies to have military
guards on the following conditions:-
1. The Military Guards should be paid for. 2. The companies should pay for an
organisation of Indian Anti-Piracy Guards.
The following companies which call at
Singapore agreed to these terms:
-
British India Steam Navigation Company. China Navigation Company.
Indo-China Steam Navigation Company.
It is of interest that in spite of the
fact that companies now pay for the services of
British guards, their requests for these guards have
in no way diminished in fact the reverse is the
G
case.
